29-year-old Leah Pritchett closed out her first full season as a member of Don Schumacher Racing with a scorecard that could easily be mistaken for that of a Top Fuel veteran. Having previously competed in the Top Fuel class for just four years, three of which were on a very limited schedule, 2017 would be Pritchett’s first full season driving in all 24 events of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing series. The year began with a trip to the winner’s circle at the first two events. After claiming the Wally at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, the first at her hometown track, Pritchett headed to the next event ready to defend her 2016 NHRA Arizona Nationals title. Once again, Pritchett emerged the victor at the Phoenix track.
